Tottenham vs Man City: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 5th February 2023
Kick off at 4:30pm GMT
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Match Preview:

This is a huge game for both clubs and what a fixture it should be to sign us off from, another weekend of glorious Premier League football.

Tottenham are chasing a top four finish and for them it would feel unthinkable not to reach that objective but they come into this game in 5th place 3 points behind 4th placed Manchester United and having played a game more. Recent form just hasn’t been good enough for the club who have lost 3 of their last 5 and two of their last three. However Tottenham did bounce back in their last game with a 1-0 win away to in form Fulham. Overall though if Tottenham fail to make it into the top four this season their home form will be blamed. A 60% win rate just won’t cut it at this level and they have lost 4 of their last 5 here. Harry Kane needs just 1 more goal to reach 200 in his league career and what a way it would be to do it against the champions. Of note manager Antonio Conte is set to miss this game due to having had an operation for his gallbladder.

Manchester City are chasing down Arsenal and they will know if their task just became harder as the Gunners play Everton the day before. City could be entering this game a whopping 8 points behind but the mindset of Pep Guardiola’s players has to be to be victory all the way. Guardiola has been frustrated by his sides lack of killer instinct this season although it looked to be back and on show in their last game as they beat Wolves 3-0 with an Erling Haaland hat trick. Haaland already has 25 goals this season and is on course to smash the Premier League record. As for City’s form they have won their last two games scoring 7 goals and of course 4 of them came against Tottenham as they played each other in the reverse fixture just a few weeks ago. This is sure to be electric from the word go.

Team News:

Tottenham: The club has no injuries to the first team ahead of this game.

Manchester City: Phil Foden is expected to return from his foot injury and will be assessed. John Stones is out with a hamstring injury and won’t return for another 3 weeks at least.

Tottenham vs Man City Head to Head:

Last season Tottenham won this fixture 1-0.

There have been 11 goals scored in the last two meetings between the sides.

Tottenham have won 4 of the last seven meetings.

Tottenham vs Man City Prediction:

These two clubs know no other way and we are set to see an epic Sunday game and end to end football. Tottenham could actually do their rivals Arsenal a huge favour here but they won’t care about that as they cannot keep losing ground to fourth place. At the same time Tottenham have shown us nothing in relation to them winning big games at home, they have failed each time and we think they could well do so again.

That isn’t to completely rule them out as they are a side who have enjoyed moments of joy against City, but the fire power City has alongside perhaps a new belief in themselves after Pep’s words suggests to us that the smart money will be on backing the away side.

Tottenham vs Man City Betting Tips:

Manchester City to beat Tottenham at 1.62

Anytime goalscorer: Erling Haaland at 1.57

Anytime goalscorer: Harry Kane at 2.75
