Fulham vs Tottenham: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 16th March 2024
Kick off at 5:30pm GMT
Venue: Craven Cottage

Match Preview:

Here we have a London derby, not the most important London derby for either side but still this should be a rather competitive game on a Saturday that because of the FA Cup we witness just 3 Premier League games. Fulham are in 12th place with 35 points and are only one position below their more successful neighbours Chelsea and it would feel like a big victory if they were able to finish above them. Currently the gap is 4 points so there is work to be done. As far as form goes the Cottagers have won 3 of their last 5 games with wins over Brighton, Manchester United and Bournemouth, although last weekend they lost against Wolves, but the club have been competitive under manager Marco Silva.

Fulham has the 8th best home record having won 25 points from 42 and that isn’t bad going however it is worth remembering that they have lost 5 times here. But overall the Cottagers have been a difficult side to beat at home and have lost once in their last five. Tottenham gave their top four hopes a major boost last weekend as they went to difficult Aston Villa and romped home as 4-0 winners, it was a fantastic result for the club and underlined just how solid they have been this season. It bodes well for the future too. Villa will play on Sunday but Tottenham has a game in hand over them and would go past them at least for 24 hours with victory in this game. A recent loss to Wolves has hampered Tottenham slightly but they have managed to win 3 of their last four games and they look like coming into good form. Tottenham are unbeaten in their last 3 away games and their latest loss on the road came at the end of last year when they were defeated against Brighton.

Team News:

Fulham: The club has no injuries to report ahead of the game

Tottenham: Richarlison is being tipped to return from a knee injury, Fraser Forster is still a month away from a return due to a foot injury. Mickey van de Ven has a hamstring injury and remains a doubt to be back for this fixture. Ryan Sessegnon and Manor Soloman are out long term

Fulham vs Tottenham Head to Head:

Last season this fixture finished 1-0 to Tottenham.

In the last 11 meetings Fulham have won just one game.

5 of the past 6 meetings have seen under 2.5 goals.

Fulham vs Tottenham Prediction:

Tottenham have been known down the years for failing to impress just when it seems that they have hit form and moved up a level. That situation presents itself again this weekend. This is the weekend where they could move past Aston Villa into 4th and start to make statements in the league. Form from now until the end of the season won’t win them the league but it has to be about establishing a winning attitude for the club and of course qualifying for the Champions League. We think also with the return of Richarlison that will be an obvious boost to a side who can put 4 goals past a quality side in Aston Villa.

Fulham are not to be taken lightly because they are in a position where relegation is not a problem and that means that they can play freely and take some risks too, this is why we expect to see a good competitive game. Recently this fixture has had few goals in it with games favouring under 2.5 goals, with the way this one is set up we expect that pattern to end on Saturday.
