Wolves vs Luton: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 27th April 2024
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Molineux Stadium

Match Preview:

It’s fair to say that Wolves European hopes are over now but at the same time the club will not want to fritter the season away and end up losing ground. That is a possibility though with no wins in their last five games and just 2 points from their last 15 on offer- this isn’t doing Gary O’ Neil’s status as the next best English manager any good at all. But it has been a long and tired season and overall the club have punched above their weight. Wolves are in 12th place and they are only two points from the top half but recent form has been a downer and in their last game they were defeated at home by Bournemouth and come into this encounter having lost their last two games in a row.

Luton can still save themselves but it’s going to be edge of the seat stuff. They are in 18th but with 25 points are just a point from safety- in fact because of goal difference this is 2 points- the club really need a win here because Nottingham Forest have a very tough game against Manchester City and so Luton would spring themselves into safety by winning this game, and it means that a fixture that would probably go unknown in normal weeks really has a lot going for it. Luton’s form has been poor though with 4 defeats from their past 5 games with their sole win coming against Bournemouth.

Team News:

Wolves: Toti has a hamstring injury and will be assessed, Jean-Ricner Bellgrande and Santiago Bueno will not return for at least 10 days more with respective knee and hamstring injuries. Leon Chiwone and Craig Dawson are out for the season.Pedro Neto has fitness issues and at present it is not sure if he will return this season

Luton: Elijah Adebayo and Chiedozie Ogbene are about a week away from a return. There are many long term injuries for the club which include; Tom Lockyer, Daniel Potts, Marvelous Nakamba, Issa Kabore, Mads Andersen, Jacob Brown and Amarii Bell

Wolves vs Luton Head to Head:

The clubs have not played here in 18 years when Wolves won 1-0.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture the clubs drew 1-1.

There is a 70% chance to see both teams to score.

Wolves vs Luton Prediction:

We are going to back the home side to get the win here. Wolves are a solid unit who have faced a difficult period but at home they can be a team who are hard to beat. The club come into this game with zero pressure and we have seen how Luton can implode under it. Luton can have much of the ball and be the side who come forward but this could play into Wolves hands and we do not expect to see the Hatters keep a clean sheet but they do have to be in attack mode and we think they do not have the quality to be polished enough at the back. There is a lot riding on this game but time and again Luton have failed the really big tests. They may well still impress at home in the final few weeks but away wins in the Premier League are very difficult to pull off and Luton seems to have all of the cards stacked against them and an ever increasing injury list isn’t going to help their cause.
