Wolves vs Fulham: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 9th March 2024
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Molineux Stadium

Match Preview:

Wolves lost last weekend at Newcastle but manager Gary O’ Neil has done a very good job with the squad he has and is set to sign an extended contract with the club. Wolves are in 10th place and have 38 points and are safe with months to go. It is job done for the team but O’Neil will be eyeing a top half finish to the season. Before the Newcastle defeat Wolves had won 3 of their last four games including back to back victories over Tottenham and Sheffield United and the club will be glad to be returning back home. At home they have won six games and lost four and won three of the past five games here. There is some inconsistency at home which was highlighted by a recent defeat against Brentford here but the club has the 11th best home record in the league and overall they are 2 points in front of mega spenders Chelsea, for now O’ Neil and Wolves are a success story.

Fulham, like their hosts, are safe now and have 35 points and are in 12th place. The Cottagers have found good form and have won three of their last four games including wins over Manchester United, Bournemouth and last weekend Brighton. The last month has been very positive for Marco Silva’s side. However let’s talk about away form which has seen seven defeats and only two wins but there have been hints that even away form is improving and the club have gone their last two games on the road undefeated. Their latest away game was their infamous 2-1 win against Manchester United.

Team News:

Wolves: Jose Sa and Joao Gomes will both be assessed and could return, Hwang Hee-Chan remains out with a hamstring injury. Matheus Cunha won’t return until the end of the month at the earliest due to a hamstring injury. Pedro Neto is being tipped to return from a slight hamstring injury and will be assessed

Fulham: The only injury concern for the club is Raul Jimenez who will miss out with a hamstring injury and won’t return for at least three weeks

Wolves vs Fulham Head to Head:

Last season the clubs drew 0-0.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Fulham won 3-2 this is Fulham’s only win in the last 8 meetings.

There is an 80% chance to see under 2.5 goals.

Wolves vs Fulham Prediction:

For the Premier League it is very healthy to see two sides who maybe in another season could be struggling, but these two are far from that and have been amongst the best teams pound for pound in the league. This game feels equal but Wolves being the home side are going to be the favourites and there has been a lot of positive talk lately about them and the manager. There is a little less pressure on Fulham then and we expect them to play a calm and controlled game and this could be a very close clash.

Wolves have had the better of Fulham in recent years and we think they will be able to come through this clash too but it will be very closely fought with just the odd goal in it. History suggests that few goals could be scored and this could be a game to follow that script.
