Bournemouth vs Sheffield Utd: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League

Venue: Vitality Stadium

Match Preview:

Bournemouth broke over a month's spell of no wins with a 2-0 win over Burnley away from home last weekend. The Cherries have just beaten the second to worst side in the league and now face the poorest side and they are at home and this, at least on paper looks like being a nailed on home victory. Bournemouth with 31 points and still 12 games to play will survive this season with weeks to spare and that is good progress and stability for the side. Home form has remained a problem though with the majority of their results here ending in losses, there have been 5 so far from 12 games and just 3 victories, The club have gone their last three games at home with no wins and we would have to go back to last year for their last win at home which came against Fulham in a 3-0 win.

Sheffield United were blown away yet again this season as they lost 6-0 at home to Arsenal on Monday evening. They have now conceded 72 goals which is 12 goals more than Burnley and have shipped 12 goals in their last three goals, it is clear as daylight that the reappointment of Chris Wilder has badly backfired. In terms of staying up because all of the bottom sides lost last weekend the Blades have not lost any ground but if we factor in goal difference they are 12 points from safety. Given they have only amassed 13 points from 27 games it is now surely only a matter of time before they are relegated. The Blades have the same points as Burnley with 13 and so the objective could be at least not to finish bottom of the league. Sheffield United has the worst away record in the Premier League with five points won from a possible 39, 10 losses from 13 games and they are conceding on average 2 goals per game.

Team News:

Bournemouth: Marcos Senesi has a hamstring injury the full extent is not known but some reports suggest that he could be missing for the next three weeks. James Hill is not expected back until the end of the month with an ankle injury. Tyler Adams has recovered from injury but has fitness issues which could see him remain out for between two to three weeks. Lloyd Kelly, Ryan Fredericks and Maximillian Aarons are all out with no fixed return dates.

Sheffield United: Mason Holgate is suspended and won’t return until the end of the month. Max Lowe, John Egan, Rhys Norrington-Davies and Rhian Brewster all out for the season. Chris Basham remains sidelined and Cameron Archer won’t return until the end of the month due to a calf injury.

Bournemouth vs Sheffield Utd Prediction:

The market like us believe this game is nailed on for the home side and it is not everyday you see Bournemouth marked up at 1.30 to win a game. Sheffield United may pull out some surprise results between now and the end of the season but the club really look lost at sea. Now they are not only losing games but conceding a fair few goals and the feeling will be that if you score first against them their hearts will go and the floodgates could open. You would think that Dominic Solanke will be relishing this type of game against a leaky defence and being at home so we will opt for him to score. For some more value and smaller stakes back a defender for the home side to get on the score sheet from a set piece. If they get off to a good start they will take some more risks against a poor side.
