Wolves vs West Ham: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 6th April 2024
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Molineux Stadium

Match Preview:

Wolves could join West Ham on the same points (45) if they were to win here however their form has suffered in recent weeks with just 4 points won from their past 12. In midweek they drew 1-1 away to Burnley as they fight relegation and last weekend was a 2-0 loss at Aston Villa. Wolves are in the European hunt though and that is testament to the great job that manager Gary O’ Neil has achieved. At home Wolves' majority result is the win and they have seven so far and a 50% win rate and recent home form has seen a recovery as the club managed to win their last two in a row.

West Ham are continuing to flirt with a European place and because it has been this way for the majority of the season if they were to implode now it would signal a really disappointing end to their season- at this stage you sense it could go either way. The club are in 7th place and could join Manchester United on the same points with victory. However, David Moyes' side have not tasted victory in the league since beating Everton a month ago. Since then they have had 3 draws and a defeat. Last weekend they should have beaten Newcastle after leading 3-1 but lost 4-3 and in midweek they did a little better drawing 1-1 with Tottenham but they were losing that game. Of concern will be recent away form which has seen the Hammers lost 3 of their last four games and their majority away result is the loss with seven so far.

Team News:

Wolves: Craig Dawson may miss out to face his former side as he has a lack of match fitness and is only rated at 50/50. It is the same problem for Hwang Hee-Chan. Jean Ricner- Bellegrande and Pedro Neto are both out long term with respective knee and hamstring injuries

West Ham: Nayef Aguerd is being tipped to return from a shoulder injury. Alphonse Areola remains out with a groin injury

Wolves vs West Ham Head to Head:

Last season Wolves won this fixture 1-0.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture West Ham beat Wolves 3-0.

There is a 60% chance to see under 2.5 goals.

Wolves vs West Ham Prediction:

It’s fair to say that this looks like being a fairly equal game given how both sides season’s have gone but we will be backing Wolves to get the spoils. West Ham have looked slightly lethargic lately and the players seem to have their Europa League knockout match against Bundesliga side Bayern Leverkusen on their minds and it is a fantastic opportunity for them to reach the semi-finals.

West Ham can still dig in but any follower will be worried by their recent away form and that is a cause for concern. O’ Neil has built a good team at Wolves under difficult circumstances and they don’t always impress but they will be up for this game and have the opportunity being at home to really make a case for a European finish.
