Wolves vs Liverpool: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 4th December 2021
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Molineux Stadium

Match Preview:

Wolves are in 8th place and have just 1 defeat in their last five games however they have dropped some points and drawn their last two coming into this one. The good news though is that overall form has been quite excellent under manager Bruno Lage overseeing his debut season with the club and they are also undefeated in their last 3 games.

In midweek Wolves drew 0-0 at home to Burnley and if results do not work out for both Tottenham and Manchester United at the weekend they would leap frog those two teams with victory here- at the same time they are having to play Liverpool, so that could be a big ask.

Liverpool will be smiling and it will be wide as they beat local rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby in midweek with a 4-1 victory. Liverpool fans rubbed it in during the game thanking Rafa Benitez the Everton manager. So the Reds who have been in solid form come into this game in very happy spirits.

Liverpool are in 3rd place and are only 2 points behind league leaders Chelsea and one point behind Manchester City so there really is all to play for. The Reds have won their last 3 games and have scored 12 goals in their last 3 games scoring 4 goals each time. The gap between Liverpool and 4th place is now seven points and it is evident that there are 3 teams now in this title race.

The Reds have the 2nd best away record in the league and have lost just once, however that was recently in a defeat against West Ham. Liverpool are averaging just over 3 goals per game on the road.

Team News:

Wolves: Willy Bolly is out long term and likely to miss the rest of the year with a muscle injury. Marcal is out as he has Covid-19. Daniel Podence could return after being ill from Covid-19. Pedro Neto is being pencilled in to return for this game with his knee injury but there has been no concrete update on this. Both Jonny and Yerson Mosquera are out long term.

Liverpool: Roberto Firmino is out and not due back for another 10 days at least with his hamstring injury. Joseph Gomez is missing with a calf injury. There has been no update for Curtis Jones and his eye injury so he must remain a doubt. Naby Keita is out with a hamstring injury.

Wolves vs Liverpool Head to Head:

Liverpool won this fixture last season winning 1-0.

Liverpool have won the last 5 meetings in a row.

Wolves have beaten Liverpool at home in the FA Cup, but in a league match it has been 40 years since they recorded a win over the Reds when at home.

Wolves vs Liverpool Prediction:

Liverpool are on fire and whilst Wolves will test the Reds, when a team is playing like Liverpool are who is going to go against them? Sure the bubble may burst but it seems unlikely it will be anytime soon and it is hardly a secret that there are goals in this side.

Liverpool are about 1.44 to win the game which is going to be short for many so we will take to them to win on a -1 asian handicap.

The goals are flying in and Liverpool who are still chasing the leading pack have the motivation and quality of player to sail past Wolves which they really should be doing. Lage has worked hard at Wolves but this game seems a stretch for them to get anything here and he may have to be looking at the clubs up and coming fixtures.

Wolves vs Liverpool Betting Tips:

Asian handicap (-1 Liverpool) at 1.625

Anytime goalscorer (Mohamed Salah) at 1.66

Both teams to score at 1.80
