Wolves vs Leeds: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League

Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Molineux Stadium

Match Preview:

This game is a huge six pointer and there will be a lot of attention on it at the weekend. Wolves are in 13th but are far from safe and with 27 points are only three clear of the bottom three. Wolves recent form has been a mixed bag and has included three defeats in their last five games although they did beat Tottenham, not many would have expected, and drew against an in form Fulham side. One expects that if Wolves are to push on and be safe this season they will need too win their home games. The bad news there is that the club has lost six games at home however recent form has improved with 3 wins from their last four and with Tottenham and Liverpool beaten here in recent weeks one would expect Julen Lopetegui’s side to win this encounter.

Leeds have dropped to 19th place and it seems sacking Jesse Marsch has not improved their standing. They have managed 4 points from their last 9 which is slightly encouraging though and just one win can push you out of the bottom three at this point. Leeds last victory came against bottom club Southampton a few weeks ago but then they lost to Chelsea although only by 1-0. Last weekend they were the underdogs but managed to draw 2-2 against the in form Brighton. You feel there is light at the end of the tunnel for Leeds one week but then they remind you that they could well go down- for now there is a chance and any points gained away at this stage of the season would be gold.

However on the road Leeds have really struggled with just one win so far and they lost 9 of their 13 games. Recent form does not make good reading for the club who have won just 1 point from their last 15 away from home.

Team News:

Wolves: Boubacar Traore has recovered from injury but has a lack of match fitness which is set to rule him out for a further two weeks. Diego Costa has a knee injury and looks set to miss the next 3 weeks. Hwang Hee-Chan has a muscle injury and looks set to miss out this weekend.

Leeds: There are no new injuries for the club however Adam Forshaw, Tyler Roberts and Stuart Dallas are all missing long term.

Wolves vs Leeds Head to Head:

Last season this fixture finished 3-2 to Leeds.

The clubs have already played at Wolves this season when they met in the EFL Cup which Wolves won 1-0.

From the last 9 meetings Wolves have won 6.

There is a 60% chance to see under 2.5 goals.

Wolves vs Leeds Prediction:

Leeds have not shown enough for many to have confidence in them to win away games. Wolves home form has been quite solid lately and they have a good record over Leeds over the past decade all of this points to a home victory but they will be made to work hard for it.

It is worth looking into the second half markets as we think the game could be played out mostly in midfield for the first half before bursting into life as it goes on and there are some great markets with very good value to follow that trend. We do not expect to see a high scoring game as there is so much on the line here but a win for the home side will afford them a little breathing space as we take a little break for international games.
