Wolves vs Fulham: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 13th August 2022
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Molineux Stadium

Match Preview:

Wolves might feel they were unlucky at times against Leeds on the opening weekend of the season. They had taken the lead through Daniel Podence but ended up losing the game 2-1. Going away to Leeds especially on the first weekend of the season was never going to be easy but Bruno Lage’s side still played some good football and many believe that the club can finish in the top half of the table.

One of the stories of the opening weekend though was at Craven Cottage as Fulham returned to the Premier League. The Londoners are the favourites to be relegated again but they gave the media something to think about as they drew 2-2 with Liverpool. The Cottagers had twice led in the game and been good for their lead as Liverpool looked jaded at times and not their usual selves. Did the Reds take this game for granted? If Fulham are to avoid the drop their home form will be really important and they were very unlucky in the end not to get all 3 points. Aleksandar Mitrovic is a brilliant centre forward but he normally reserves his goals for the Championship but he scored a brace against Jurgen Klopp’s side and maybe this is the season where Mitrovic can prove any doubters wrong.

So Fulham already have a point on the board and it is a point that no one expected them to have coming into this game. But playing away in the Premier League will be a real character test for this Fulham side, and they will come into this game as the outsiders despite their heroics against the Reds.

Team News:

Wolves: Joao Moutinho is touch and go with his foot injury and remains a doubt. Adama Traore is out for 3-4 weeks with his hamstring. Raul Jimenez is out for the same length of time with his knee. Nelson Semedo has some fitness issues but will be assessed. Chiquniho is out long term with a knee injury.

Fulham: Joe Bryan has a hand injury and is only 50/50 to play in the game.

Wolves vs Fulham Head to Head:

The last time they played when Wolves were at home was in 2020 and Wolves won 1-0 in this fixture.

Wolves have managed to win the last three meetings in a row and Fulham have not recorded a win in four years.

The last 6 meetings in a row have all seen under 2.5 goals.

Wolves vs Fulham Prediction:

The first thing we see is that Wolves have some key injuries and maybe until that is resolved they will not be as strong as they could be, but in time they will improve. We can also notice that this is a fixture that does not witness many goals and this could be the market to focus on as we feel there could be more than people expect this time even though Fulham would be happy to come away from a difficult ground with a point. Mitrovic will be pumped full of confidence though and he will try to have an impact on the game. However this is a match that if the visitors can keep their shape they can come away with a draw.

The draw is risky granted, so perhaps backing the home side and covering the draw on the refund is the way to go here. Had Fulham been slaughtered by Liverpool we would be backing Wolves to win outright, on the account that Fulham would have had a rude awakening, but we should also respect the fact that Fulham started well and will understand that early season form could well make them avoid the drop.

Wolves vs Fulham Betting Tips:

Asian handicap (0.0 Wolves) at 1.65
