West Ham vs Tottenham: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 24th October 2021
Kick off at 2pm BST
Venue: London Stadium

Match Preview:

This London derby on Sunday should be a cracking game as there is clearly no love lost between these two sides.

Both have shown some great moments and will be happy with their seasons so far. West Ham have really impressed in the Europa League also and they won again in midweek beating Gent 3-0. These are teams that in the past the Hammers would have made heavy going of and lost and there is no doubt that the club have immensely improved under David Moyes.

In the league there has been some inconsistency with the Hammers who lost at home to Brentford but then were able to go to Everton and win. The worry for the Hammers has been their recent home form and whilst they haven’t played poorly it has been 3 games since they recorded a win in front of their home fans. The club could break into the top 5 with victory at the weekend.

Tottenham are in 5th place and came into this weekend just 4 points behind the league leaders Chelsea. They have yet to draw a game and have won 5 and lost 3. But recent league form has been good, after losing 3 matches in a row they have won their last two with victories over Aston Villa and Newcastle. It will be encouraging for manager Nuno Espirito Santo to see that his club are scoring goals again and they have 5 in their last two games.

There was a setback in midweek though as Spurs lost 1-0 away to Vitesse in the Conference League. But they will be focused on winning this game.

Team News:

West Ham: Vladimir Coufal will be assessed after his recent groin injury but remains a doubt. Alex Kral will miss out as he has Covid-19.

Tottenham: Ryan Sessegnon and Matt Doherty will both be missing due to knocks.

West Ham vs Tottenham Head to Head:

West Ham beat Tottenham 2-1 in last season’s fixture that stopped a 4 game losing run at home to the club.

There is a 60% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

3 from the last four fixtures has seen both teams to score.

There has been just one correct score that ended 0-0 in the last 40 meetings.

West Ham vs Tottenham Prediction:

There are goals in these fixtures and we should see a very end to end game at the weekend. West Ham have really improved but they are still in Tottenham’s shadow regarding the London rivalries between the sides. But this game will mean a lot to both sets of supporters.

Some weeks West Ham have looked strong but they seem to be just missing that edge of consistency that we witnessed last season and that could be due to the extra European games being played in the Europa League.

There is a lot of promise in this Tottenham side but we have seen that if teams get at them and put them under pressure then Tottenham are always likely to concede goals. The Hammers will be trying to win their 2nd game in a row in the league and the fact they also stayed at home in midweek could really pay dividends. There is little between the teams and this could be a match that is determined by a slice of magic.
