England Premier League
Saturday 16th September 2023
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Match Preview:
A new manager and one of the best centre forwards in world football sold and you could have been forgiven that Tottenham would struggle this season, but that certainly hasn’t been the case in the first month of the new campaign. Instead Tottenham are unbeaten and are in 2nd place. With 11 goals scored they have the same amount as Manchester City and they have banged in seven of those in their last two games. It is fair to say the club is flying right now.
Before the international games Tottenham beat Burnley 5-2 away from home despite going a goal down and Heung-Min Son also scored a fantastic hattrick. When Son scores goals and is in a confident mood there seems no stopping him and few would back against the South Korean scoring more goals or at least creating them this coming weekend.
Sheffield United are searching for their first win and come into this weekend in 17th place. They were able to earn their first point of the season in their last game which ended in a 2-2 home draw with Everton. Other than that the Blades have seen defeats against Manchester City, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace. Perhaps the good news despite the results is that every game has been very close with just one goal in it and against the champions they were minutes from drawing that game. Of course they will be the underdogs in this fixture.
Team News:
Tottenham: Giovani Lo Celso has a thigh injury and could miss out here. There are no new injuries for the club but a few first teamers have been out long term and that includes Rodrigo Bentancur, Bryan Gil and Ryan Sessegnon.
Sheffield United: Anel Ahmedhodzic is being tipped to be fine after a minor hamstring injury meant he couldn’t play international games. George Baldock will be assessed but has fitness issues, it is the same situation for Rhian Brewster and Tom Davies. Daniel Jebbison will miss out again due to illness. John Fleck has a leg injury and is still missing. Max Lowe is out with his ankle, Ben Osbourn is out with a groin injury and William Osula will be assessed for a knock picked up on international duty.

Tottenham vs Sheffield Utd Prediction:
Tottenham are around 1.25 to win this game so we don’t see a rush of bets being put on a straight win. We do believe that the club have goals in them especially at home and can convert goals against any side in the league let alone having to play the Blades. One of the best markets here looks like the ht/ft one in the home teams favour and we expect Tottenham to come out quick and fast and score a few goals too.
When Son is in form we know he is so good and natural in front of goal and he is in a happy place right now and he is surely going to make United suffer in this game. There are question marks over Richarlison but one would expect the Brazilian to have plenty of chances in this game so he could be worth backing too. Perhaps with the league so unpredictable we shouldn’t be fully discounting Sheffield who will put in an effort but at this point in time we believe that Tottenham will simply be too strong for their opponents.
