Tottenham vs Sheffield Utd: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League

Kick off at 7:15pm BST
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Match Preview:

Most of the news for Tottenham has been off the field and when that happens you know there are problems on it.

Jose Mourinho’s sacking will always be big news but it’s still a scratch your head moment from Daniel Levy to have chosen this just before the Carabao Cup final. Tottenham lost to Manchester City and it has been 13 years since the club have won any silverware. But also a new story is emerging and it’s about star striker Harry Kane who is obviously brilliant but getting older and still has zero trophies to his name. There will be pressure now on the club to possibly sell Kane. True they may end up with £150m plus for the striker if they can get that in Covid times but Kane is hinting now at how frustrating it is to not win trophies. Take young Phil Foden so brilliant at City who just beat Tottenham and he is already on the trophy trail.

Tottenham are also managed by a 29 year old in Ryan Mason though he is the interim manager and will be replaced in the summer it’s still a come down for the club who had thought they had hit the big time in revealing Mourinho to the club 18 months ago but now the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino is looking rather stupid. Onto Tottenham’s form and they did win their last league game beating Southampton 2-1.

Coming into this weekend Tottenham are 5 points shy of 4th place and with other teams in between them a possible top four finish does look over. Overall form isn’t the best for the home side with just 1 victory in their last four.

Sheffield United of course are already relegated and probably won’t even finish in 19th place but they surprised many with a 1-0 victory over Brighton last weekend. The club are down and the players can finally relax and we may even see the best of the Blades for the remainder of the season though of course they will be the outsiders here. United have won just once away from home so far losing 14 from 16 games. Their last away game ended in defeat to Wolves and they have managed to score just seven goals so far on the road.

Team News:

Tottenham: Ben Davies is the only injury concern for the club with a knock.

Sheffield United: Chris Basham has fitness issues but will be assessed for this game. Jack Robinson is out with a lack of match fitness. Jack O’Connell has a knee injury and is out. Billy Sharp is out for the season with a thigh injury.

Tottenham vs Sheffield Utd Head to Head:

Last season this fixture ended 1-1.

Earlier in the season Tottenham beat Sheffield United 3-1.

The last 4 meetings has seen both teams to score.

Tottenham vs Sheffield Utd Prediction:

This game will tell us if Tottenham are feeling sorry for themselves because after a cup final loss it can be a gift for your next game to be at home against the team who are bottom and a team who have won just once away from home.

There is no excuse with the quality that Tottenham have not to get a win here, and we could see a few goals from the club. Sheffield United will play their part too because they have nothing to lose and the Tottenham defence is questionable at this time.

But we will back Tottenham to win and be winning at half time and get off to a positive start. Kane can’t win trophies this season but he will be determined to finish as top goalscorer and we will back him to get on the scoresheet.

Tottenham vs Sheffield Utd Betting Tips:
