Tottenham vs Leeds: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League

Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Match Preview:

Are the wheels coming off of Tottenham’s season or is this just a blip? The club have lost 3 of their last four games and in the EFL Cup in midweek they were dumped out by Nottingham Forest losing 2-0. Last weekend they were beaten at home against Liverpool and so it’s been almost a month in the league where they have tasted victory here.

Some have suggested that Tottenham’s title challenge is over, that might be hasty but it is going down that road and if they were to lose here and Arsenal and Manchester City were to win their respective games then it would be safe to say that the challenge would be over. Current form has seen six points won from the last 15 and on that they would be in 10th place. Currently the club are in 4th but they have seen Newcastle pass them and Manchester United could join them on the same points. As it stands Tottenham are a point behind Newcastle but 8 behind Arsenal and the Gunners have a game in hand over them.

Don’t tell Jesse Marsch that his job is under threat, or face the wrath of his side actually starting to win games! Leeds come into this one having won their last 2 in a row and have climbed up to 12th place. From 11 games Leeds had won just twice but they now have four wins and are marching up for now. In truth Leeds away form is poor with just one win, which was the stunning Marsch saving job against Liverpool but they have earned just four points on the road from a possible 18 and despite their upturn in form will be the outsiders in this game.

Team News:

Tottenham: Heung-Min Son has a facial injury and is ruled out, Cristian Romero is out with a muscle injury.

Leeds: Patrick Bamford is expected to return from a recent hip injury, Joe Gelhardt will be assessed. Luis Sinisterra, Andy Forshaw and Stuart Dallas are all out until the end of the year.

Tottenham vs Leeds Head to Head:

Tottenham beat Leeds 2-1 in this fixture last season.

The last seven meetings in a row has seen over 2.5 goals.

Tottenham have scored 10 goals past Leeds in the last four meetings.

Tottenham vs Leeds Prediction:

Games are coming thick and fast and even though they will stop now one has to be thinking about Harry Kane. Kane will be England’s great hope at the World Cup but as his manager has already pointed out he is very tired. Does this mean that Kane will not start the game? Richarlison is tipped to come back for the club but he will also have one eye on the World Cup, and he was lucky in the end with his recent injury that it wasn’t so serious. The problem that Tottenham have is that recent form has not been the best, and now the World Cup is right around the corner, do their internationals take risks? Can they go full pelt 100% in these type of games that can get physical? On the flipside is a Leeds team who are inferior in terms of starting quality but have less to lose and are in good form having stunned Liverpool and then made a terrific comeback against Bournemouth. The best value choice here could be to back the away side on the handicap.
