England Premier League

Southampton won’t mind too much that they are near the bottom three because relegation has been sorted out and they will be safe this season. Though perhaps manager Ralph Hasenhuttl will worry about his job and there has been rumours that he could lose his at the Saints after an overall poor season.
The clubs form has dipped in the second half of the season and they have lost 3 games from their last four. At home 21 points have been earned from 48 and the Saints should be thanking their lucky stars that A) they started the season fairly well and B) Fulham just kept losing games and didn’t really give the scare that perhaps the Saints deserved.
And as for Fulham here we are, they were relegated on Monday evening after losing at home to Burnley 2-0. There can’t really be any complaints but as observers have noted, had Fulham had a couple of good strikers they probably would have stayed up. There were only faint glimpses of what could have been, the wins against Liverpool and Everton away from home being memorable. But the club just faded soon after that as a lack of fresh ideas and fatigue took its toll on the club.
What says it all about Fulham is that they earned just 5 points from their last 30 on offer and that’s the real reason they were relegated. The Cottagers have no wins away from home in their last 3 games but the majority of their results on the road have actually ended in draws with 8 so far from 17 games.
Southampton: Ryan Bertrand could be assessed but looks set to miss out with his calf injury. Oriol Romeu is being pencilled in to return after his ankle injury.
Fulham: Tom Cairney could return for this one after a lack of match fitness. Mario Lemina can’t face his parent club so misses out on this one. Terence Kongolo is out for the season with a knee injury.
Southampton vs Fulham Head to Head:
Last time out Southampton won this fixture 2-0.
Earlier this season in the reverse fixture this game ended 0-0.
3 of the last four meetings has ended in under 2.5 goals.
Southampton vs Fulham Prediction:
It’s hard to believe this will be an attacking game full of goals but at least with Fulham now down they will hopefully try to enjoy the last batch of their Premier League games.
At the same time one would feel that Southampton would have to take this game seriously unless the decision to part ways with Hasenhuttl has been confirmed behind the scenes. In that sense we don’t know so the best choice here even though it can be risky is to back the draw, and we do not expect many goals.
There is value in backing the correct score at half time to be 0-0 and we wouldn’t be surprised if this game ended up like that.
