Rashford lazy? & Everton struggle for goals

The story in the last few weeks at Manchester United apart from new manager Ruben Amorim's lack of impact so far has been Marcus Rashford. The English forward was criticised under Erik ten Hag also. That narrative is that Rashford is seemingly a world class player who isn't putting in world class shifts (ie) he is overrated. The feeling is Rashford's future lies elsewhere than Old Trafford. Granted he did have that 30 goal season but his return since then has hardly been befitting of a Manchester United forward. Under Amorim it is let's blame Rashford again and he's been dropped from the clubs last five games. In a sense that has to be respected. It is obvious that Amorim is seeing something in training and Rashford's overall body language that he has to take a stand. Other managers were more lenient and that won't be the case with Amorim. Still given United's poor form could it be that Rashford ends up at the club longer than Amorim? Rashford isn't blameless but we can't ignore the fact that he scored 3 goals in Amorim's first two managerial games with United. Since he's been dropped the club has managed 1 win and are missing him. It's a fact worth pointing out. We know that United are not a strong side and still remain in the bottom half of the table. This season is practically dead for the club so would it not make more sense to keep Rashford and play him until at least the end of the season?

Everton have pulled off some terrific unexpected results lately and yet going down 2-0 at home to Nottingham Forest in their latest game has exposed the Toffees once more. Granted achieving 3 points with three draws against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City was nothing short of brilliant. But if Everton are now reverting back to usual self and early season form then this isn't a good sign. Of course Forest have done spectacularly well and are in 3rd place but at home Everton need positive results no matter who they are playing. All of a sudden Sean Dyche's side are only two points from the relegation zone and they cannot score goals. Only bottom placed Southampton have scored less. It's close to 400 minutes since the club have scored. One of those problems comes in the form of Dominic Calvert-Lewin a handy player on his day but with only 16 league goals from his last 84 games and just 2 so far this season the forward is not producing. The worry is he's only 27 but of course he will complain about the lack of quality service. Calvert-Lewin has been with the club for 9 seasons including this one and been through all emotions thick and thin. One just wonders if he will be off in January when Everton can get some money for him. West Ham may be a good move for him and the London side need someone up front with the news that Jarrod Bowen could miss a few months with injury.
