Nottm Forest vs Crystal Palace: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League

Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: City Ground

Match Preview:

Is Steve Cooper working his magic with Nottingham Forest after a dreadfully slow start? The club have lost once in their last four and in midweek they knocked Tottenham out of the EFL Cup with a 2-0 victory.

Certainly Cooper has saved his job for now and dare we say it these are good times for Forest. However and pardon the pun, they are not out of the woods yet and come into this weekend before the World Cup break bottom of the league. The good news is that they are just 3 points away from safety and time is on their side but they need to keep up this new found consistency. Last weekend and in their last home game they drew 2-2 with Brentford and in recent weeks they beat Liverpool here. However they have also lost 5-0 against Arsenal although that was away from home and it should be no surprise to know that 8 of their 10 points so far have come at home.

One of the best form sides in the league are Crystal Palace who have lost just one game in their last five and won 3 of their last four. There was disappointment in midweek as they were knocked out of the EFL Cup by Newcastle. However the game which was away from home ended 0-0 and they only lost on penalties. Palace have beaten Southanpton and West Ham in their last two games. Indeed the victory over the Hammers was their first away win of the season, the majority of their trips so far have ended in draws which is at 50%. The Eagles would firmly move up into the top 10 with a win here so there will be a lot of motivation to do so.

Team News:

Nottingham Forest: Chiekou Kouyate will be assessed for a knock but is being tipped to be fine. Orel Mangala is suspended for his red card last week. Scott McKenna will be assessed for a knock. Moussa Niakhate and Omar Richards is still sidelined with a muslce and leg injury.

Crystal Palace: Jack Butland remains a doubt because of fitness issues, Odsonne Edouard will be assessed after recovering from injury but then receiving a knock. James McArthur and Chris Richards remain out with their hip and hamstring.

Nottm Forest vs Crystal Palace Head to Head:

The clubs drew 2-2 the last time they played each other which was 10 years ago.

Crystal Palace has just 2 wins from the last 10 meetings.

There is a 60% chance not to see both teams to score.

Nottm Forest vs Crystal Palace Prediction:

We should see a good game here between two dedicated sides and that is in part because both come into this one with some confidence and have been putting together some good results. The home fans will certainly be pumped up after seeing Tottenham beat here in midweek. Crystal Palace though just look fearless, and even when they play against better opposition they just play their game and manager Patrick Vieira has installed a lot of confidence and self belief in the team.

Palace got a really good win over West Ham last weekend and it was their first away win of the season, of course in reality that game looked to be heading for a draw and if truth be told Palace haven’t quite been at the races when playing away. Forest are a home side through and through and they have a spring about them now. Manager Cooper will have his side try and enjoy this one before the World Cup break and that is why we believe we should back the home side here.
