Newcastle vs Tottenham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 4th April 2021
Kick off at 2:05pm BST
Venue: St. James' Park

Match Preview:

The pressure Steve Bruce must be feeling at this point will be immense. Here he is given the chance to manage his boyhood club and given the pat on the back by owner Mike Ashley and he could be responsible for sending the Magpies down.

For now they are safe, but only by 2 points and recent form has been incredibly poor for them. Just 3 points have been earned from their last 15 and they are without victory since beating Everton away from home 9 weeks ago. The lack of goals will be of concern too with just 10 scored from their last 10 games and also in that time just 9 points earned.

At home Newcastle have only won 4 games but their recent form at St. James' is a little encouraging at least, as they have gone their last 3 matches unbeaten although bear in mind that two of those games have ended in draws, but the club face a very tough battle at the weekend.

Tottenham’s objective is to finish 4th and anything else would mean this season has been a failure for them. In that regard Jose Mourinho is under pressure too, he looked like he was going to cry after the club were knocked out of the Europa League and their only hope of silverware is the Carabao Cup where they will meet Manchester City in the final later this month.

Tottenham have been in decent form and are only 3 points behind 4th place, so this is a must win game. Tottenham beat Aston Villa 2-0 in their last match and have won 2 of their last 3 games on the road.

Team News:

Newcastle: Callum Wilson has fitness issues and looks a doubt for this game but will be assessed. Allan Saint-Maximin should be fit to play after recovering from injury. Fabian Schar has recovered from his knee injury but will miss this game but is being tipped to be back next week.

Tottenham: Ben Davies is out with a knock as is Matt Doherty with the same problem.

Newcastle vs Tottenham Head to Head:

Tottenham won this fixture 3-1 last season.

4 of the last six meetings has ended in under 2.5 goals.

Tottenham have won the last 5 games played at Newcastle in the league.

Newcastle vs Tottenham Prediction:

We truly expect Newcastle to struggle here, they are in poor form and facing a superior side who have a great recent record over them. There will also be a little revenge on Tottenham’s minds given that the sides drew 1-1 earlier in the season in London when Tottenham dominated that game only for Newcastle to get a controversial stoppage time penalty- they scored and it was their only shot on target.

If the likes of Harry Kane and Heung Min Son click that will be a terrifying prospect for the Newcastle back four and Tottenham can even bring Gareth Bale from the bench. On paper at least Newcastle are going to get overwhelmed, and this could well be a reality. Tottenham for the win.

Newcastle vs Tottenham Betting Tips:
