Match Preview:

Coming into the Euro’s the Netherlands were not as talked about as their history accounts for. Simply put since reaching the 2010 World Cup final the nation has fallen down the pecking order not even qualifying for two major tournaments in the past decade. A quick look at the starting 11 did not evoke much hope either, but some players have started to shine and we have learned more about the Oranje.

Denzil Dumfries in defence has been a real stand out, he is a player that isn’t afraid to shoot forward and attack and he has scored a couple of goals in the group stages. Wout Weghorst has looked impressive up front. Another forward has emerged in Donyell Malin who performed wonderfully in the Netherlands final group game against North Macedonia. Couple these players with Memphis Depay and you have a team who could go far in the competition and Depay is scoring goals again too.

The Netherlands have a 100% record in the competition, have scored 8 goals and they will be the favourites to reach the quarter finals.

Czech Republic came 3rd in a group that consisted of England and Croatia but were one of the best ranked teams who finished 3rd across the board and slipped into the knock out stages that way. The Czechs have looked quick coming forward but could suffer in defence. There is a lot of energy about them though and striker Patrik Schick has lit up some stadia with some well taken goals, just ask Scotland.

The Czechs beat Scotland 2-0 and drew 1-1 with Croatia though were leading that game. Against England they had some genuine chances to score but lost the match 1-0 and had a poor second half, this is perhaps because they realised that even if they lost they would qualify. They are a nation with a rich history in this competition, winning it in 1976 and reaching the final again in 1996, but this team doesn’t look like the strongest they have had.

Team News:

Netherlands: Luuk de Jong has a knee injury, it remains to be seen if the team will start Malin or stick with Weghorst up front.

Czech Republic: There are no injuries to worry about for the Czechs though defender Jan Boril is suspended for this game after picking up two yellow cards in the group stages.

Netherlands vs Czech Republic Head to Head:

The last 2 meetings have seen 8 goals.

The Netherlands have not beaten the Czech Republic since 2005.

Czech Republic have 4 wins from the last six meetings.

Netherlands vs Czech Republic Prediction:

The Czech Republic have enjoyed quite a lot of success over the Netherlands in recent years but this has been a good period for Frank de Boer’s side and we should disregard recent head2head results.

Going into this game the ascendency and belief seems to be with the Netherlands and in truth it doesn’t feel like we have seen enough from the Czechs to convince us of a surprise victory here. The Czechs will be no push overs though and we should expect an open game with plenty of chances for both sides. You have to wonder though without Schick to provide the goals where would the Czechs be right now? It will be important for the Netherlands to keep Tomas Soucek quiet in midfield he is in very good form this year for club and country.

We expect the Netherlands to get the victory and advance to the quarter finals but it might be worth your time to back both teams to score and see over 2.5 goals also.

Netherlands vs Czech Republic Betting Tips:

Netherlands to beat Czech Republic at 1.66

Both teams to score at 1.80

Anytime goalscorer: Memphis Depay at 2.10
