Match Preview:
Of course it is early days yet but no one associated with Manchester United envisaged that from 4 games gone of the new season two would already have ended in defeats. The problem with United is that questions will be asked because progress is always needed at a club this size and it is questionable if Erik ten Hag is making enough progress. The club seems to be going in the right direction but at times it seems like it is at a snail's pace, and slow progress never quite works out in the world of football. There have been problems off the pitch for the Red Devils too which have included the club being put up for sale only for the owners to change their minds. The fall out from Mason Greenwood has hung over the club for some time but now he will start a new chapter with Getafe in Spain. But there is a new problem now with Antony with allegations thrown around and the club will be under pressure to play him now.
United lost their last game before the international break as they went down 3-1 at Arsenal although the game was heading for a 1-1 draw before two very late goals killed the game off. Ten Hag’s side have also lost away to Tottenham but have won both of their home games so far. They have beaten Wolves 1-0 and overcame Nottingham Forest winning that one 3-2 but the struggle has been real and it could be said with all validity that we are yet to see a good performance from the club.
Brighton have started the stronger of the two sides and have won 3 of their opening four games- their only blemish so far was a 3-1 home loss to West Ham. The Seagulls have put in some very impressive results which includes beating Newcastle 3-1. Away from home has seen a bruising 4-1 win over Wolves and they have also put four goals past Luton. Some have said that Brighton have had some easier fixtures than most but beating Newcastle was a great result and there is no reason that the club won’t come here full of confidence.
Team News:
Manchester United: Antony is not being selected for the time being and is unavailable. Amad Diallo looks set to be out still due to his knee injury, Sofyan Amrabat has a knock but could be assessed. Tyrell Malacia has fitness issues and Lisandro Martinez has a foot injury and will be assessed.
Brighton: Evan Ferguson missed the international games due to a knee injury, it is thought to be a minor one and he will be assessed. Danny Welbeck could well miss out again due to a recent muscle injury and Julio Enciso is expected to miss out again due to his knee injury.
Man Utd vs Brighton Head to Head:
Last season Brighton won this fixture 2-1.
In the last 4 meetings Manchester United have failed to beat Brighton over 90 minutes. Their only victory was in the FA Cup in a penalty shoot-out after the game had finished 0-0.
Manchester United have won 8 of the past 11 meetings.
There is a 70% chance to see over 2.5 goals.
Man Utd vs Brighton Prediction:
Normally Manchester United at home to Brighton would give us a price of 1.66 or lower so be warned when we see that the market has United at 2.10. Of course Ten Hag’s side if they click has the quality to win the game but the hungrier side and the one with more passion is Brighton and the club have come on leaps and bounds in the last 18 months. We don’t see this game being an easy one for the home side and if they go behind life will become difficult.
So far we haven’t seen much joy in Ten Hag’s appearance while he has continued to bemoan VAR and other decisions, United do not look fluid but of course should be dangerous at home. And yet we have seen a lucky win over Wolves and they had to come back from 2 goals down to eventually get the better of Nottingham Forest. It is a risk but stranger things have happened and we would rather back the team showing plenty of flair and confidence and that is the away one for this weekend.
Man Utd vs Brighton Betting Tips:
