Man City vs Leeds: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 10th April 2021
Kick off at 12:30pm BST
Venue: Etihad Stadium

Match Preview:

With seven games left to play Manchester City are 14 points clear of Manchester United and have won their last 3 games. Last weekend they beat Leicester who are in 3rd place rather comfortably winning 2-0 away from home.

In midweek City beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the 1st leg of the Champions League quarter finals. That game is far from over and one would have to believe that City will have one eye on that game coming into this game. In truth City could lose this match and it wouldn’t be the end of the world for them. It will be fascinating to see if Pep Guardiola does rest some of his players with the Dortmund game in mind, because rarely does he try and put out a weakened team.

Since losing the derby game City have been in great form and have proven once again that they are the only Premier League team who have been able to be this consistent over a period of time. At home they have won 38 of 48 points on offer and by far have the best home record in the league. They have lost just twice at home, to Leicester and Manchester United.

Leeds will be happy on 42 points and their survival guaranteed already. The club are unbeaten in their last 3 games and the objective now will be to finish in the top half of the table. Leeds have won 2 games in a row coming into this one and last weekend they were able to beat Sheffield United 2-1 that was their 13th win of the season.

If results go their way it would be possible to see Leeds climb to 9th place with victory at the weekend, but of course they will be the severe underdogs and will be expected to lose this one.

Team News:

Manchester City: City have no injuries coming into this game.

Leeds: Leeds have no injuries but Jack Harrison is ineligible to face his parent club and cannot play at the weekend.

Man City vs Leeds Head to Head:

Earlier in the season the teams drew 1-1.

The last time the teams played a league game in Manchester, Manchester City were playing in a different stadium and it was back in 2003, the game finished 1-1.

The clubs did meet in Manchester in 2013 in the FA Cup and City won 4-0.

There is a 60% chance to see both teams to score.

Man City vs Leeds Prediction:

Manchester City have little to lose and so do Leeds, it means we could see some tactics go out of the window and hopefully see a very entertaining game full of goals- that is the hope. It is very important to check the late team news for the home side because we would be very surprised if they played with their strongest 11. Having said that City’s next 11 could be a starting 11 for any team in the league.

Leeds know they can relax but should be mindful, because the last time they went toe to toe with a team from Manchester they shipped 6 goals.

Ilkay Gundogan could be one to watch for the home side, he has been scoring goals for fun this season but has gone a little quiet and if the tactics are open so will the midfield be, and he may fancy his chances to get quite a few opportunities, though again check the team news just before kick off.

Man City vs Leeds Betting Tips:

Over 2.5 goals at 1.50

Both teams to score at 1.80

Anytime goalscorer: Ilkay Gundogan at 3.00
