Fulham vs Newcastle: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 23rd May 2021
Kick off at 4pm BST
Venue: Craven Cottage

Match Preview:

Fulham could have the chance to keep West Bromwich Albion behind them and if they win this game or even draw they will do so. Of course the Cottagers were relegated weeks ago so the players can just go out in front of some of their fans and try and enjoy their football as they bid farewell to the Premier League.

Scott Parker’s side are 11 points behind 17th positioned Burnley and recent form has not been good with just 2 points earned from the last 15. The Cottagers last game ended in a good 1-1 draw with Manchester United away from home though.

Newcastle could finish with the same points as last season as they try to build on some positive performances. The Magpies scored 3 goals against the new champions Manchester City but lost that game 4-3. But Steve Bruce’s team were able to follow that up with a 1-0 victory over Sheffield United a few days later. Still with 7 points earned from their last 15 form has been mixed. Away from home the Magpies have done well recently and have gone their last 3 games undefeated. Their last away game was a brilliant 4-2 win over Leicester.

Team News:

Fulham: Aleksanda Mitrovic is out with a glute injury. Harrison Reed will be assessed after his ankle injury but Antonee Robinson is out with his ankle.

Newcastle: Martin Dubravka has a hamstring but is expected to recover for this game and will be assessed. Karl Darlow is out with his knee. Joelinton has a knock but will be assessed ahead of the game. Allan Saint-Maximin has a calf injury but could still make this game.

Fulham vs Newcastle Head to Head:

The last time the clubs played here in 2019 Newcastle won 4-0.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture the game finished 1-1.

5 of the last six league games has ended in under 2.5 goals.

Fulham vs Newcastle Prediction:

Fulham will try to give their supporters something on the day but Newcastle have shown real quality away from home and will not be an easy team to beat. They have a dogged spirit since being confirmed as safe and we are probably seeing the best of them now.

A home crowd will raise Fulham no doubt, but their form has been poor and we can’t see that suddenly picking up and we should back the away side to get at least a draw. Newcastle will have a target in their mind to finish the season on 45 points and they could pass both Southampton and Crystal Palace with victory to complete what would be seen as strong finish from the club after a forgetable season.
