European Championships 2020
Saturday 3rd July 2021
Kick off at 5pm BST
Venue: Baku Olympic Stadium
Here we have two teams who could be considered outsiders yet have history at the European Championships. The two nations have won this competition in the past, the Czechs infamously in 1976 after a penalty shoot out against West Germany and Denmark in 1992.
The Danes win was a surprise and they hadn’t even qualified for that competition but after the war broke out in Yugoslavia, Denmark were given the final place and obliged.
The Czech Republic also reached the final in 1996 when it was played in England. The Czechs were impressive in beating the Netherlands in the last 16 and they went on to win that match 2-0. It was seen as a surprise result and Patrik Schick scored once again, he is emerging as one of the stars of this competition.
Denmark have this incredible belief and it is obvious that they are playing for Christian Eriksen. Even though Eriksen’s career looks like it will be cut short now, the most important thing is that the former Tottenham player is on the road to recovery. The Danes were absolutely electric though in knocking out Wales in the round of 16 and won the game 4-0. They have now scored 8 goals in their last two matches. Kasper Dolberg scored a brace in the match against Wales and the 23 year old who currently plays with Nice looks to have a bright future ahead of him.
Czech Republic: There are no injury worries for the nation and Jan Boril returns from suspension.
Denmark: There are no injuries coming into this game for the Danes.
Czech Republic vs Denmark Head to Head:
The last time the teams met was in 2016 and the game finished 1-1.
Czech Republic haven’t beaten Denmark for 6 games going back to Euro 2004. However five of those matches ended in draws.
There is a 70% chance to see under 2.5 goals.
Czech Republic vs Denmark Prediction:
On all accounts this looks like being an equal game and we do expect a tight match. A majority of recent results adds to this theory because the teams have repeatedly drawn games.
The market is open which represents good value for us and we will back Denmark to reach the semi-finals. They started slow for obvious reasons but have really grown in confidence since. The attacking players that Denmark have at their disposal are interesting and there is a never say die attitude about the team now.
Czech Republic impressed against the Netherlands and are a danger in attack, but their defence needs to be tested because one senses it is not the strongest at these championships. Kasper Dolberg has looked excellent for Denmark and his price of 3.75 to score anytime should be snapped up. We are in a for a close tense battle which may not be easy on the eye but will back the Danes to succeed.
Czech Republic vs Denmark Betting Tips:
