Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 19th May 2024
Kick off at 4pm BST
Venue: Selhurst Park

Match Preview:

Both clubs will feel happy coming into this game. For Crystal Palace their end of season form has been amongst the best in the league and fans will be super hyped up for next season under their current manager Oliver Glasner. Palace have won 13 points from their last five games and have climbed up to 12th place with 46 points. After what seemed like being a poor season and a backwards step compared to previous seasons the Eagles have really flown and spread their wings and are well on course to match previous seasons now, Glasner has put the club in a good direction for now. The club's home form hasn’t always been convincing with 7 wins but 7 defeats however let’s concentrate on now and that is good news for the club as they have won their last 3 home games in a row.

Aston Villa have qualified for the Champions League next season which is a fantastic achievement for the club. They are in 4th place and can’t be caught as they are 5 points clear of Tottenham in fifth. It is true to say that form has dipped for the club in their last three games but at the end of the day their job has been completed. Villa has recently drawn against Chelsea and Liverpool and they lost in between that to Brighton. It’s been almost a month since they last won a game which was against Bournemouth. On the road Villa has the fourth best record in the league and won 8 times although they have lost six and the club has one win in their last four trips.

Team News:

Aston Villa: Alex Moreno will be assessed with a knock but could return. Villa have many players out which include; Emiliano Buendia, Matthew Cash, Boubacar Kamara, Tyrone Mings, Jacob Ramsey, Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans and Nicolo Zaniolo

Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa Head to Head:

Last season this fixture finished in a 3-1 win for Crystal Palace.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture it was Aston Villa’s turn to also win 3-1.

5 of the last six meetings has seen both teams to score.

Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa Prediction:

Overall Aston Villa certainly has the better team but travelling to Crystal Palace has never been easy and it feels even harder for this game. Palace have been in fantastic form and they will want to send their home fans back happy and we don’t see Glasner’s juggernaut stopping now. Villa are content their season has been a good one and their job is done plus they come here with many injuries and some of those are key. They will still compete well and have their chances but Palace just look irresistible at this present time and we see a home victory here, they are also a very good price to win at home which has to be taken on. Palace are full of goals and have a lot of confidence at the moment, and this could well be the home banker of the weekend in the Premier League.
