Burnley vs Crystal Palace: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 20th November 2021
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Turf Moor

Match Preview:

Burnley are in 18th position however their recent form would put them in 12th and it has felt like quite a turn around in recent weeks from Sean Dyche’s side.

The club has managed to go undefeated for the last 3 games with just one defeat in their last five. The worry could be that the international break came at exactly the wrong time for a club who had found consistency for the first time this season.

Victory at the weekend could see Burnley climb out of the bottom three depending on how Aston Villa and Newcastle get along in their respective matches. What underlined Burnley’s change of form was going to Stamford Bridge in their last game and coming away with a surprise 1-1 draw. Though Chelsea dominated the game who could have thought Burnley had a chance especially as they were trailing the game 1-0.

Crystal Palace are also on form and have won 9 points from their last 15 including two consecutive wins coming into this game and remaining unbeaten in their last five matches.

Palace have climbed to 10th place and have 15 points and it feels like manager Patrick Vieira is getting the best out of his players and has already rubber stamped his qualities all over this team. Palace have beaten Wolves in their last game and in their last away match beat Manchester City 2-0 in a quite stunning result. The City victory was actually Palace’s first away win of the season and whilst they do not have the best away form in the league the Eagles can boast just one defeat on their travels in their last four games.

Team News:

Burnley: The club have no injuries coming into this game and there is only one doubt in Aaron Lennon who took ill just before the international break but is expected to have recovered for this fixture.

Crystal Palace: Nathan Ferguson is still struggling with his Achilles injury but could be back at the end of the month. Joachim Andersen picked up a knock on international duty and will be assessed but is being tipped to be fine.

Burnley vs Crystal Palace Prediction:

This should be an entertaining game as these two meet each other at the right time given how both come into this match on form. When you draw at Chelsea you can start to believe that a lot is possible and Burnley will be hoping that the recent international break has not jolted the players too much. The club also has a very good recent record over Palace although they have just one win so far at home.

Palace are on a roll with all key players fit and it is interesting to point out the clusters that have formed when these two teams play. Either Burnley go on winning runs or Palace do and if history was to continue there is a pattern that would suggest that it is Palace’s turn.

For fantastic value we will back Vieira’s side to come here and get something, they just look so slick at the moment and the defining difference could be how both sets of players react to a break when neither team would have wanted it. But Palace are the team for us given their superior quality up front.
