Match Preview:
Brentford in 15th are still stalling and not finding the wins that would set them free and as it stands they are just four points from the bottom three. Thomas Frank’s side have at least stopped the defeats with 3 draws in a row which have come against Manchester United, Brighton and Aston Villa. In fairness that is a tough run of fixtures and with no defeats in that run it could well be suggested that the Bees have the heart to stay in the league this season. 14th may seem like a bleak target but Frank and his side would snap your hands off for it and that could lead them to safety and past Crystal Palace with the right results. At home the Bees majority result has been the draw and loss at six apiece with just four wins so far but it’s almost been two months since they were beaten here which came against Liverpool.
Sheffield United to their credit keep fighting but it looks inevitable that we now know that at least one club to be relegated will be them. If we take in goal difference also then the Blades are 10 points from safety with 21 points left on the board. In other words they would need to win at least six of their remaining seven games, and let’s remind ourselves that they have just 3 wins so far. Like their hosts, defeats have almost stopped with 3 draws from their last four games and even though they are bottom of the league they have proved to be a handful. Just ask Chelsea who could only draw 2-2 with them at home in the last game.

Brentford: There are no new injuries for the club however Joshua Dasilva, Aaron Hickey, Rico Henry, Christian Norgaard and Ben Mee are all ruled out long term
Sheffield United: Tom Davies remains out and is not due back for at least two weeks as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Jack Robinson will be assessed for an ankle injury and is about 50/50 to make this game. John Egan may return before the end of the season but isn’t expected back for another month because of a leg injury. There are long term injuries for Max Lowe, Rhian Brewster, George Baldock, Chris Basham and Rhys Norrington-Davies

On the road it should come as no surprise to see Chris Wilder’s side have the worst record in the Premier League with just 1 win and six points from a possible 45. We can see that misery continuing and even though a loss here would not confirm relegation for many observers it would feel like there would be no escape after this. Brentford have been banging on the door for a win but some front footing has been missing, and they have found it hard to keep a clean sheet. This is why both teams to score could be nailed on here. We will back the Bees to end their recent poor run over the Blades and also back Ivan Toney to get back into some form ahead of this summer. We don’t expect to see a vintage game of football but this would be a huge huge win for the home side.
