Bournemouth vs Fulham: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 1st April 2023
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Vitality Stadium

Match Preview:

Bournemouth are among the favourites to be relegated and with good reason they have lost 15 games from 27 and three from their last four. And yet the Cherries can still escape the bottom three with victory at the weekend.

Bournemouth come into this game in 19th place with 24 points and are just one point from safety. In their last game they were soundly beaten 3-0 away to Aston Villa but it’s all about how the club have been performing at home which may well give them a chance for survival this season. 16 of their 24 points have come at home and in their last game here they recorded a memorable victory over Liverpool with a 1-0 win. That was made even more important given that the Reds were coming off of a 7-0 victory over Manchester United. It’s just one defeat in their last four homes games too which also includes holding Newcastle to a draw but overall the majority result at home are still defeats where they have five so far.

Fulham are in 9th and a European finish which many will feel the club deserve this season could be in jeopardy as they have lost their last two games. The recent defeats came against Brentford and Arsenal and the Cottagers haven’t tasted victory in six weeks when they beat Brighton. The good news is Marco Silva’s side are just three points shy of being back in contention to finish in a European position although some of their rivals have played less games. On the road Fulham have won five, although lost six, but with 17 points won they currently have the seventh best record in the league. Their last away game ended in defeat against Brentford but they have managed to earn seven points from their last five games away and that includes earnng a point at derby rivals Chelsea.

Team News:

Bournemouth: Junior Stanilas is the only concern for the club and he is 50/50 to return because of a recent knock.

Fulham: Shane Duffy will be assessed due to a calf strain but is being tipped to play some part. Aleksandar Mitrovic is suspended for 3 games after his red card against Manchester United. Laywin Kurzawa is still out with a knee injury but could return in two weeks. Willian is suspended for this game after his red card against Manchester United.

Bournemouth vs Fulham Head to Head:

Last season the teams drew 1-1 when they played each other in the Championship.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture we witnessed another draw, this time it was 2-2.

There is a 70% chance to see under 2.5 goals.

Bournemouth vs Fulham Prediction:

A month ago you could have looked at this fixture and fancied Fulham to get the win but that isn’t quite the story now and a month can be a very long time in football. These sides have actually drawn their last three meetings but a draw here would do no good for either side so we should expect them both to come out here and go for the win.

We believe it is advantage Bournemouth and not only are they at home but Fulham are missing key players after Aleksandar Mitrovic and Willian were sent off as they fell to Manchester United. Mitrovic’s absense is a real blow and he scored when the teams met earlier in the season. There is no reason to believe that Bournemouth can’t be confident in this game when their last opponent here was Liverpool and they beat them but the bottom line is that this seems to be the perfect time to play Fulham and can you really see the home side not making the most of that when they absolutely need to win?
