England Premier League
Sunday 12th November 2023
Kick off at 2pm GMT
Venue: Villa Park
Match Preview:
Aston Villa will be eyeing getting back to winning ways as they return home to face Fulham. Villa lost last weekend away to Nottingham Forest and given Unai Emery’s team’s form this was seen as a slight shock and a setback. However with the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal all dropping points Villa didn’t suffer too much in the end.
The club have started the season strong and are only five points behind 1st place and come into this weekend in 5th place with 22 points. Villa’s real strength has been at home and while three teams have a 100% home record Villa top them all because of goal difference. They are currently scoring 4 goals per game at home and have only conceded four goals. Villa’s last home game ended in a 3-1 win over Luton and there have also been recent victories over West Ham and Brighton. In midweek Villa were involved in the Europa Conference League and at home they beat AZ Alkmaar 2-1.
Fulham have won just one game in their last five and are down in 15th place although with 12 points they are currently safe from any bottom three worries and are six points clear of the relegation zone. However it’s just been over a month since the club last won a game and since then they have lost against Tottenham and Manchester United, and drew with Brighton. Indeed it’s not been an easy run of fixtures for the Cottagers and this looks set to continue this weekend. With victory they could well climb 2-3 places although it is just one win on the road so far and that was back in August against Everton and they have managed just five goals on their trips so far.
Team News:
Aston Villa: Diego Carlos will be assessed for a muscle injury but it isn’t thought to be too serious. Jacob Ramsey will miss out with a foot injury and isn’t expected back until the end of the month. Emiliano Buendia and Tyrone Mings are both out long term with respective knee injuries.
Fulham: Matthew Dibley-Dias could be assessed after his hamstring injury but remains only 50/50 to be ready for this game. Rodrigo Muniz is out for at least 3 weeks with a knee injury. Kenny Tete, Adama Traore and Tosin all have fitness issues and will be assessed. Issa Diop is out with a foot injury with no fixed return date.

Aston Villa vs Fulham Prediction:
It’s always interesting and it doesn’t matter even if it’s the champions to witness how a team reacts after a loss. Villa have shown strength already this season and they look like a confident outfit under Emery, they will be favourites to win this game and we think being back at home and with the many goals they have scored here this should be a home win. Yes Villa had to play midweek in Europe but it was important that the game was at home so they didn't have to travel.
Fulham have lost their last two games at Villa Park although over the past decade have enjoyed success here too. However just going on the evidence of this season alone we believe Villa will have too much for the Londoners and this should be a straightforward win.
