Arsenal vs Leeds: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 1st April 2023
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Emirates Stadium

Match Preview:

Arsenal have 10 games to go as they edge nearer and nearer to a surprise league title, the question is can they see it out? The Gunners will be widely expected to keep up their winning run at the weekend when they face struggling Leeds at home but they will be taking nothing for granted.

Since losing at home to challengers Manchester City, Arsenal have responded in the best manner possible by winning their next six games and they have pulled out an 8 point lead at the top. City have a game in hand and the two teams will play each other soon so that gap could quickly evaporate. With City playing earlier in the day though Mikel Arteta’s side will have the advanatge of knowing what must be done in this game. At home the Gunners have only lost once so far and have won 11 games from 14, what is important is the goals are coming thick and fast at home and they have scored 11 of them in their last 3 home games. Arsenal’s last home game finished in a 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace. These have been brilliant times for Arteta’s side with only the disappointment of being knocked out of the Europa League a stain, but at the same time given that they are going for the league no one associated with the club seems that overly disappointed with their European exit.

Leeds have struggled for most of the season but it’s just one loss in their last four now and they have climbed up to 14th place. However 14th in the Premier League means very little given that they are just 2 points in front of 18th. Leeds last game was a six goal thriller in which they beat Wolves 4-2 to collect a huge three points and that followed a 2-2 draw with Brighton. A surprise win here and if results go their way could see Leeds climb as high as 12th place by the end of the weekend.

On the road is where the pain lies for Leeds with 9 points won from a possible 42, they currently have the fifth worse record in that department. While the club did win their last away game against Wolves they have only won two times on the road so far and are almost conceding 2 goals per game on average.

Team News:

Arsenal: Eddie Nketiah is pencilled in to return for this game after his ankle injury but remains at just 50/50 to do so and is a doubt. William Saliba is being tipped to return from a muscle injury, Kieran Tierney will be assessed due to a knock.

Leeds: Degnand-Wilfried Gnonto is out with an ankle injury for at least the next 10 days. Maximillian Wober is out with his hamstring. Stuart Dallas, Adam Forshaw and Tyler Roberts are all out long term.

Arsenal vs Leeds Prediction:

It’s true that Arsenal have made heavy weather of teams at home that you would have expected them to win without too much trouble. Think of their recent win over Bournemouth which needed a last minute injury time winner and while Leeds can raise their game against the top sides as they have tried already this season we don’t see them getting much joy here. Neither do the bookmakers and Arsenal are 1.25 to win so we will look into different markets.

Gabriel Martinelli has been in brilliant form lately and he has a knack of scoring against Leeds and should be looked into to do so again. We expect a few goals from the home side and so backing them on a negative handicap could also draw in some value. It would be a real surprise to see the Gunners drop points here and we expect them to get off to a flying start and backing them to be winning at half time could also be a smart move.

Arsenal vs Leeds Betting Tips:

Handicap: Arsenal to beat Leeds with a -1 goal start at 1.80

Half Time Result: Arsenal to win at 1.66

Anytime goalscorer: Gabriel Martinelli at 2.25
