Arsenal vs Brighton: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 23rd May 2021
Kick off at 4pm BST
Venue: Emirates Stadium

Match Preview:

Despite having another poor domestic season by their standards Arsenal could set the cat amongst the pigeons on the final day of the season as they look to win their 5th consecutive game.

Ever since being knocked out of the Europa League at the semi-final stage the Gunners have found their best form of the season as they contemplate no European football for the first time in 25 years but there could be hope right at the death. As it stands Arsenal are in 9th place with 58 points but victory in this game and dropped points from Tottenham and Everton could let them in for the final Europa League place. Failing that Arsenal could qualify for UEFA’s latest competition, ‘The Conference League’.

In midweek Arsenal beat Crystal Palace 3-1 and at home they have won 7 games so far. However recent form at the Emirates is nothing to get excited about with just 1 win from their past four on offer.

Brighton probably surprised themselves in their latest game as they came back to beat the new champions Manchester City 3-2. The result would have been a welcome boost for the Seagulls though it changed very little for them and they come into this fixture trailing their hosts by 17 points and are in 16th place.

Team News:

Arsenal: Hector Bellerin is out with a leg injury. David Luiz is only 50/50 to appear in what would be his final game for the club. Mat Ryan cannot face his parent club so is out.

Brighton: Neal Maupay is suspended and will miss this game. Davy Propper is out with an ankle injury. Joel Veltman misses out again with his calf and Danny Welbeck is also out with a hamstring injury.

Arsenal vs Brighton Head to Head:

Last season Brighton won this fixture 2-1.

Earlier in the season Arsenal were able to beat Brighton 1-0.

5 from the last six meetings has seen both teams to score.

Arsenal vs Brighton Prediction:

Arsenal have looked like the Arsenal we all know in the past month and we expect them to get their 5th consecutive win. Even if all else fails and qualifying for the Europa League isn’t possible you get the feeling that the Gunners would just love to surpass their rivals Tottenham in the league after all is said and done.

Tottenham were in such a brilliant position over Arsenal at one point it would feel like a victory albeit a small one if Arsenal could finish above them. This could be the drive that the players need to put in a good game, but in truth they are in brilliant form now and should have few problems to find a couple of goals and settle this match fairly easily.
